Maureen Brown Matthias is an independent educational consultant and the founder of MBM College Consulting. As a parent of three Ivy League students, Maureen understands the pressure on families during the highly selective college admissions process.
Maureen is a graduate of the UCLA College Counseling Certificate program, a certified essay coach, and a member of various professional organizations including the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling (NJACAC). Maureen has visited over 90 college campuses and continues to visit more every year.
Maureen has counseled numerous students on their college processes including the selection of college majors, building of balanced college lists, brainstorming and overseeing essay writing, assisting with applications, and securing need-based and merit-based financial aid. Maureen also provides pro-bono services for students who cannot afford private counseling.
Maureen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and worked as a transfer pricing consultant in New York and Tokyo. In addition to living in Tokyo for six years, Maureen and her family lived in London for four years. Since retiring from corporate consulting, Maureen has served on various volunteer boards focused on women, children, families, and international transitions, including the National Board of the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association affinity group, ND Women Connect.
